I think I got my love for flowers from both of my parents. About this time of the year Dad would always say 'it is time to get your Mother's flower beds ready' and we (my brothers and I) would clean, spade and fix Mom's flower beds.
Mom would be excited as she anticipated what she would plant in her beds, tulips; bachelor buttons; geraniums; marigolds; daffodils; and others. It was a lot of work but worth it to see the enjoyment Mom got. I can still see in my minds the flowers and Mom's excitement.
Dad enjoyed flowers, also. I remember growing up Dad would took a lot of 8MM home movies. He always managed to take pictures of the flowers that were growing in the yard. I also remember at times in the summer and early fall he would stop along the road and take pictures of the wildflowers.
It is interesting that Heavenly Father loved us so much that he put beautiful things like flowers on the earth for our enjoyment. I know how much flowers can cheer a troubled heart.
My wife's favorite flower is the carnation and she especially likes pink carnations. I don't give her flowers as often as I should.
